The Power and Lure of Satan Although the fall of man is written in the bible, no other author has thoroughly written thoughts which have resounded in the minds of those that have read John Milton’s â€Å"Paradise Lost†. Milton’s epic tale of Paradise Lost has become biblical folklore and even Christians who have not fully read the Bible rely upon the representations and indulgences that Milton presented through his embellishments of fact. Milton’s paradise lost is considered by critics to be one of the greatest literary cannons of all time and is undoubtedly a source of debate with no foregone conclusion other than who’s side is Milton really on, God’s or Satan’s. â€Å"Paradise Lost† is considered to be one of the literary great works written in†¦show more content†¦(Milton and the Critics) Milton’s depiction of Satan has fascinated critics and scholars in excess of a century and will continue to baffle and fascinate for years to come. Milton’s rendition of Satan; or the Devil in Christian tradition undoubtedly is a rebel who seeks divine existence and thus, this has endeared him to his subjects who have an open mind to how Milton portrayed him. Though Satan is nothing short of an intellectual in Milton’s â€Å"Paradise Lost† it truly could be theologically misrepresenting and misleading but serves to prove fascinating in â€Å"Paradise Lost†... â€Å"Paradise Lost† on its face leads one to believe that contrary to the teaching of the bible, God is unjust and paints a very clear picture form the onset that Satan was in all reality one of the good guys who had just been undermined and done wrong by God. (Paradise Lost Book III) The charismatic nature of Satan tends to lend itself to one almost feeling sorry for him due to the trials and tribulations which he has to endure due to the unfair God. The articulate writing of Milton’s when Satan is the speaker allows one to be drawn into the web of Satan unknowingly. Milton writes: â€Å"the heavens and earth; Rose out of Chaos† (Paradise Lost Book I, 9-10) and in a manner of few words mirrors the bible where in it states: Therefore, Milton mirrors the bible wherein it states
